You think it's absurd, I think it's entirely predictable. Maybe it's both.

So you're surprised that some football supporters are not taking an objective, impartial view? Hmm.

Seems remarkably unsurprising that the people pushing back against the "drab season" claim are the ones who have enjoyed it most.

Not sure why any young player who values their development would go to Chelsea. Very little stability, and their recruitment policy is like playing darts blindfold.

Even Beto would be scoring 80 goals a season if he was playing these fellas every week
April 17, 2025 at 12:15 PM
Beto is crap, I agree, and I don't care what your opinion on VVD is, but you said no-one who watched LFC in 70s/80s would think he's their best defender, which is obvious nonsense.
April 17, 2025 at 12:01 PM
Well, either the best team in England are paying him more than any defender in history for good reasons, or you're right. I know which side I'm on.
April 17, 2025 at 11:58 AM
Wrong. I watched Liverpool in the 70s and 80s, and he's the best central defender I've seen, hands down. Faster than Hansen, more aerially dominant, and better distribution. No-one else comes close.

Like I said, they're not going to break the bank for a right-back. If a player doesn't want to sign a new contract, there is very little the club can do. I am absolutely certain that they would willingly give Trent a new contract on a very handsome salary, if there was a possibility he'd sign it.
March 25, 2025 at 9:16 PM
Liverpool are a well-run club. They would look ridiculous if they had told Trent to go and train with the U21s just because he didn't renew his contract with 2 years left on it.
March 25, 2025 at 9:07 PM
How would leaving Trent out of the team for 2 years (which could be one outcome of what you're suggesting) help Liverpool?
March 25, 2025 at 8:53 PM
It means not saying things like "I want to stay to be club captain" and "I care about my legacy" if those things aren't true. Hope that helps.
March 25, 2025 at 8:28 PM
Also, not sure why this place is haunted by so many US-based Arsenal fans, but they are generally absolutely clueless, no understanding of British football culture, which is why they don't understand this kind of thing.
March 25, 2025 at 8:20 PM
100%. No-one in their right mind cares if he wants to go to Madrid, but there's a right way to do these things if you want to leave on good terms, and Trent's way is absolutely not that.
March 25, 2025 at 8:18 PM
A club can't just sell players that don't want to leave if they're under contract. They can accept a bid, but they can't force a player to agree terms with the new club.
March 25, 2025 at 6:47 PM
All on Trent. The club can't make him sign, and they're obviously not going to break the bank for a right back. No-one really blames him for going to Madrid, but running his contract down so he can leave for free is clearly an issue for most fans.

He also has an uncanny ability to avoid getting sent off for committing assault.

Newcastle going full-on plastic, as befits a state-owned team
March 16, 2025 at 5:11 PM
Chelsea's attitude is so poor given how bad they are. It's like watching Messi-era PSG except they play like Man U.
March 16, 2025 at 2:41 PM
Another win for Everton
March 15, 2025 at 5:00 PM
In fact, don't bother with the first 90, as that clearly favours the better teams. Just go straight to penalties.
January 12, 2025 at 4:10 PM
They should try kicking it into the goal
