Now that my lab has moved to Emory I want you to join us in Atlanta. We have an NIH-funded postdoc position available to study Planar Cell Polarity (PCP) signaling using vestibular hair cells of the mouse as a model.

A field of vestibular hair cells from the mouse utricle showing stereociliary bundles and adherens junctions marked by phalloidin (green) and the basal body beneath the kinocilia of hair cells and the primary cilia of supporting cells immunolabeled for Pericentrin (magenta). These hair cells are divided between two groups with opposite planar polarities. Hair cells at the top of the image have the opposite orientation from those on the bottom. You can tell by the position of their basal body and stereociliary bundle.

An isolated mouse saccule showing vestibular hair cells immunolabeled for Spectrin (green) and the Cre-labeled lineage of cells expressing the transcription factor Emx2 (magenta). These hair cells are divided between two groups with opposite planar polarities that is determined by their Emx2 lineage. Also labeled but rarely discussed are the Emx2-expressing epithelial cells of the saccule roof (partially resected to show the hair cells beneath).
