Everyone filling their diapers about “no baseball in 2027!” is about to watch virtually every free agent defer tens of millions of dollars this offseason and suddenly it’s not so bad I guess 🤷🏻‍♂️

Don’t they flip if you look at 2024? Kinda negates that issue

Honestly pretty baffled HOF ballots are sent and (presumably) received by physical snail mail. Was it at least sent certified?

I went back at the trade deadline and then again as the postseason went on because honestly Bluesky just isn’t really there yet, and it’s a depraved hellhole. Virtually all the discourse is negative, and I found myself slipping into that. The worst versions of the worst people is the norm there

Wait, huh? The M’s made the playoffs in 2022. Seattle even advanced to the ALDS after a WC round win. It hasn’t been 7,665 days at all….

Ah, super helpful. Thanks!

Something I think is being underestimated: the stakes in MiLB are simply lower. Any game-ending called strike three will and should be challenged as a matter of course (assuming teams have the option) and I don’t think anyone wants more games ending on umpire explanations of reviews
September 24, 2025 at 8:24 PM
On this: the immediate challenge requirement w no dugout consult aspect will be fascinating, and probably over several examples next year pretty embarrassing for some hitters

Less to do with CA and more to do with living right off the coast. The marine layers burns off at the end of the summer and those within a few miles of the beach experience that late sun surge. July and August are still the hottest months for the vast majority of the state
September 23, 2025 at 2:01 PM
And I don’t disagree with you. But the rest of the season is about making those decisions with virtually no stakes, and I don’t think the process the team used today was without rationale.

It’s also an awful lot of faith to put in Sasaki, Stewart etc. At some point we’ll need to use the whole pen
September 22, 2025 at 12:49 AM
I didn’t say I’d trust him. But do you think we’ll have a deep October run just avoiding using certain relievers? Does any part of today’s outing eliminate the chance to give those two a shot now? It’s a single inning in a meaningless game and the hand wringing here is way overblown, that’s all
September 22, 2025 at 12:19 AM
Pitch effectively. It’s not like we’ve got a squad full of lock down arms in the pen. Literally every one of them seems to be terrible every four or five outings. Wroblo, Treinen, Scott, Yates… we need at least two, if not three of these guys to pitch effectively in the postseason to have any hope
September 21, 2025 at 11:17 PM
I would’ve shared this complaint a week ago but not sure it matters now. We clinched the postseason and have a 99.4% chance of winning the division. Seems like the time to audition guys/get them out there with an eye toward postseason roles
September 21, 2025 at 11:01 PM
Didn’t see these but it’s probably just me missing them. That’s really disappointing to hear. You’d think a guy with elite stuff + command who now needs to reinvent himself out there, of all people, would show some grace to his teammates
September 14, 2025 at 10:57 PM
I know this is an old tweet but… what? Take issue with his off field views but I’ve never seen Kershaw show up teammates and he certainly didn’t do it yesterday, at least from what I could see. Happy to have my mind changed if I missed something

Also inside the park home runs exist

But why are the sleeves all different lengths?
September 2, 2025 at 5:04 AM
Gotta be about preserving arms here, right? He comes in for cleanup duty in blowouts and takes on innings if we clinch w time left in the season. I can’t imagine the game plan is to factor him into competitive game situations, especially not in October
September 1, 2025 at 7:02 PM
I think the decision to maximize Mookie’s defensive value (which has worked) and align him with the most pressing team needs makes sense. Scaling Rojas’ value to 162 ignores the fact that he’s largely creating the real value by limiting his exposure to unfavorable matchups
August 26, 2025 at 8:25 PM
Has he? Curious where you’re see Rojas averaging a 3 wins over 162.

My recollection was that the running in the OF— including going to and from the home dugout on the 3B side— exacerbated Mookie’s hip issues specifically and the infield was less demanding for his particular situation
August 26, 2025 at 8:10 PM
The early season illness, yes. But this season he’s provided significantly more defensive value than he has for years. At some point ppl are going to have to accept that a 175 lb 33 year old was never going to last as a power hitting RF, especially when he’s the one who wanted to move positions

It sounds like a common theme that ballgames and childhood go together very well, and we both hope to see that in the future if the game!
