A homebrewed stat block of the Mephisto, a creature from Foes of the Frontier. The description reads: “Mephistoes, also known as crossroads devils, are infamous for making deals with the humanoids of the Five Corners, granting them one wish in exchange for a favor for the mephisto, generally manifesting as some form of servitude. These fiends are said to be born from humanoids overcome by the feeling of being “burned” in a bad deal, and they can take a variety of forms, usually mimicking the guises of particularly attractive or mysterious humanoids in order to improve their chances of making a deal. Even if a foe is able to somehow get past the hellfire the Mephisto unleashes, it is said that a Mephisto can summon its debtors on a whim, turning them into ravenous hell hounds to help finish the job.”

Even more vicious than the animals it resembles, the yona is extremely dangerous, as it is capable of using its inherent ley energy to warp the weather around it to devastating effect. These abilities allow the yona to hunt and live anywhere across the Frontier, warping the local climate to their needs, with mismatched weather acting as a warning that a yona is in the vicinity

To make up for the lack of posts lately, I wanted to show off a free #WIPWednesday sneak peek of a monster from Foes of the Frontier, an updated monster compendium coming soon for Forsaken Frontier!

Meet the Beyalz, a fiend of insatiable greed that grows more powerful the more it takes!

The description reads "A beyalz is a large fiend covered in thick chitinous spikes all over its body. Said to be born from those that have been overcome with intense greed, Beyalzes are constantly on the lookout for objects or creatures of which they could claim ownership. Sometimes found in the company of Mescalero’s cultists, Beyalzes are personifications of avarice, building hoards of grand scale full of whatever they can fit in the large spectral sacks that they carry with them and they will take and take and take until they draw their last breath. These bags even carry ghostly coins that the beyalz can throw at other beings in “trade” tricking their victim’s minds to be compliant in handing over their valuables to the beyalz. Some say their spines are a reflection of their mental state, keeping others at bay due to their inherent paranoia and suspicion of losing their coveted treasures."
