As I've been listening to the band since Sundowning; I can say this feels like a “soft reboot” of sorts. It's like if the One EP was a full length album, and produced by people who've never heard Vessel's voice before. Carl Brown was a perfect pick for Take Me Back To Eden, but I feel let down by the quieter and more atmospheric moments of Even In Arcadia. It's hard to comment on individual moments in the album because I find myself in a weird spot with the other listeners and reviewers – people expected something more balls to the wall from the singles, I expected radio pop. Both me and everyone else were proven wrong, but I personally wasn't disappointed. This is definitely an album you have to listen start to finish. Vessel's character faces the man behind the mask, and the two clash hard. He's always held up well eclipsing his personality, but with the algo pull during The Summoning's release, the band has been exposed to some of the most toxic gooners that the internet has to offer; the kind that's always one step away from committing sex crimes. This is most blatantly shouted in Caramel, but it's reflected in the rest of the album as well. The mask is cracked, not broken. The iconography used in Even In Arcadia points at a very interesting future for Vessel.
