Yes on both accounts. The ones in the ground are waayyy worse. I think they're actually called frost quakes. Attached is a photo of our road (gravel road) a couple years ago after it got cold. Sorta similar to frozen lakes getting pressure heaves/cracks. Super loud and startling.

Guess it's gonna be a bit chilly this weekend (we're in the Hibbing/Grand Rapid area). Gonna try again to get my dad to not come up for fishing Saturday. Like I am nuts, but I prefer my nuts to be warm.

Not really having a good time lately but at least it's pretty here. Hope something comes up for a job that isn't miserable. Yeah, I could go to Walmart or whatever but if I'm doing that why not go back to automotive where I know what's going on? Idk. Not sure what to do.

I ain't mad at Toyota for this... Sorta comes out of left field for me but that's ok. Hot damn. Can't wait to see what that 4.0 tt V8 can do.

One of these times I'll get my deer on opening morning... Super thankful though that I get to just walk out the back door and hunt in the backyard.
This morning I was serenaded by an owl. It rained. Thought I saw a deer while I was walking back in but it was deep in the brush.

Finished the last of the apples in the dehydrator. Used the cores and peels to make jelly. Think the jelly will be banging. Nice to have literally no waste with cooking.

From the deer blind this morning. Didn't see a thing but it was very peaceful. Historically, I don't do well deer hunting but I like to try. It's nice to have a real connection to your food, similar to my garden. Free range, organic, and high quality protein.

Got to do a couple things that made me happy today. Carved a couple jack-o'-lanterns. Processed a couple more pumpkins for puree to bake with. Roasted some seeds for snacks. Baked some cookies to cover up the pumpkin smell since I know Wuff hates it.

We made jambalaya last night for supper and it was *really* good. Right at the limit for heat. Made the rice separate in the rice cooker with chicken stock, bay leaves, and Creole seasoning. That was the best rice I've ever made, even on its own.

Just after this I got news Mom passed. So thankful that I was able to hold her hand and tell her I love her today. Glad she's at peace, no longer suffering from dementia.

It's been a long time now and I don't cry as much as I used to but it still hurts. I'm just glad I got to have the time with her.
