The Blackhawk, with the callsign PAT 25 (Priority Air Transport) diverted into the path of the commercial aircraft. ATC had contacted the Blackhawk at least twice. When asked if he was going to visit the site, his words were, to paraphrase, "What site? The water? What do you expect me to do, swim?"

They were just children. They were teenagers and pre teens coming home from an ice skating event. They were parents and teachers and coaches. They had family waiting to celebrate their accomplishments at the airport, several who may have had to sit and watch it happen.
