New door side mirror acquired! 👍

A local body shop was able to take me in and get a new mirror installed within an hour today! I’m super happy with their work. An exact match to the original, too! I’m very relieved that I get to drive normally again, with full view of what’s behind me.
My replacement door mirror which was installed today by a local auto-body repair shop. The backside of the new mirror. It looks exactly like the original one, which was destroyed a while ago in a collision.

Whelp… had my first car crash today. I’m fine, and so were the people in the other car, but my driver side door mirror is completely destroyed. Hopefully I can can it replaced very soon.

The grand finale of Railroads Heritage weekend heritage weekend, the nighttime photo run-bys with steam locomotive #190. Pay no mind to the hundreds of other railfans in my shots lol 😆. We all got absolutely showered in coal cinders, but it was totally worth it.

The steam dome lid of steam locomotive #12 at Tweetsie Railroad. The safety valves for the boiled are still attached. The boiler and frame of steam locomotive #12. All of the driving wheels have been dropped out from underneath the locomotive for repairs. The boiler is also gridded off for ultrasonic testing of the shell. Also note the little support wheel set underneath the frame. The gridded-off outer firebox sheets of steam locomotive #12. The entire inside firebox is going to be replaced, along with all of the stay bolts, which keep the inner and outer firebox sheets from flexing while the locomotive is in steam. The newly machines and repaired driving wheels for steam locomotive #12 awaiting reinstallation underneath the locomotive. Note the various giant machines in the backdrop, including a quartering machine, a wheel lathe, and various lathes and mills.

Next up was the back shop tour, and it was absolutely amazing. Locomotive #12 was thoroughly disassembled for a major rebuild (total firebox and tube replacement, full running gear rebuild, etc), and we got to see many parts strewn about the shop in various stages of repair.

And the little Plymouth locomotive parked in front of it. I’m pretty sure it’s gas-mechanical, but the shop staff outside weren’t able to provide a concrete answer. They were extremely friendly and knowledgeable, though!

One of two informational papers in coach #5. Saying,”FAQ’s. The Coach Car was replaced because it had limited visibility and less seating capacity than the excursion cars. It is also quite heavy. Tweetsie railroad also owned combine car #15, which was donated to the North Carolina Transportation Museum in 1998. It is still there, undergoing a full restoration.” Then followed by a picture of the coach as it appeared in regular service on its original railroad, the East Broad Top. The second of two informational papers in coach #5. It reads: “The car was probably built for the East Broad Top Railroad in Pennsylvania sometime before 1890, and possibly the 1870’s-the exact date is uncertain. You can still make out the “EBTRR” in the worn metal door sills at each end of the car.” “According to some authorities, this is the oldest operating narrow-gauge car in the US.” “When locomotive #12 was purchased in 1953 to become the centerpiece of the Shenandoah Central Railroad (Harrisonburg, Virginia), the owners also bought this coach car from the East Broad Top. The Shenandoah Central existed for only two seasons. When Grover Robbins Jr. bought the #12 and rolling stock in 1955, the purchase included this car-among others.” “The car originally hat pot belly stoves at the front and rear for use in cold weather, and a toilet in the left rear.” “The coach was used regularly at the Tweetsie Railroad from 1957 until the late 1990’s. At that time, it was replaced by excursion cars #16, which was built here at Tweetsie Railroad. #16 contains a built-in generator and an audio/video control system.” “This car was refurbished by the Tweetsie Railroad shop staff a few years ago and is used primarily for this special Railroad Heritage weekend.It was also featured in the video productions of the 2013 and 2014 Ghost Train shows, in the filming of the movie “Mandy and the Cherokee Treasure” (2010), and the Luke Combs music video game “Going Going Gone” (2023).”

The railroad had on display a gorgeous wooden passenger car, originally from the East Broad Top in PA (I’ll share my experiences there another time), with beautiful cast iron seats and clerestory windows. It was sitting behind a cute Plymouth shop switcher.

It is beautifully preserved with many intricate details. Note the arched doorways at the end of the car, as well as the informational slips of paper on the left side seat. The beautiful stained glass clerestory windows located in the raised portion of the ceiling of coach #5. The gorgeous cast iron seats frames in coach #5. All of this detailing is original to the car. Pay no mind to my mom’s foot in the picture lol 😂 .

My only train catch of the day. Worth it though to see locos on both ends of the train. Usually in my area trains have locos on the front and in the middle, but not on the rear, so this was a welcome change.

So apparently, at the Illinois Railway Museum, a Loona plushie was spotted in the cab of one of their recently restored diesel locomotives, and normie rail fans are going ballistic over it. And I just think this is the funniest thing to get mad over 😂. Like it’s not that serious, folks 🤣

My mom and I came across a family of cats while we were walking around the neighborhood, this evening. One of them even came up to us and sniffed us out! They were so cuuuute 🥰🥰🥰!

My mom framed this signed poster that I got last year as a birthday present for me a couple weeks ago. I love it so much 🥰. Starset remains my favorite band of all time, and I’m waiting on the day their new album drops with immense anticipation.

It’s finally finished. Took me long enough lol. Not my best work, and not perfect, to be sure, but I’m happy with what I managed to do. I’ll definitely need more practice before I can do more complex positions and drawings, in general.
