The fact that K.K. Slider (Animal Crossing) and K.K. Downing (Judas Priest) start with the same initials is too co-incidental.

I'm starting to think half the reason folks say English spelling is janked up is because of the verbatim adoption of loanwords, especially through transliteration methods devised by madmen.

Perhaps I should just take a weekend to play around with data structures and trees. I was a whiz back in discrete math class but I've never actually needed to bother with that kind of stuff in production. We were just data plumbers and patching UI issues.

I can't tell if today's #AdventOfCode problem is meant to be solved with a cellular automaton, binary tree shenanigans, or row-by-row transformation. Even then, I'm not sure how the example "How many times is the beam split?" is 21, not 22 based on the amount of splitters. Or am I off by one again?

Each day, the Web sucks more and more. Everyone's starting to run to anti-crawler and CAPTCHAs that make browsing a time-sinking ordeal when you're trying to find something.
This armoring-up is only accelerating the Dead Web Theory as going outside of the walled gardens becomes a trudge.

Think I'm at the breaking point to give up on this year's Advent. Most of today was a brain drain beyond my control and I've been farting around more with Lua's metatables to make ranges work.

Like always, part 2 brought in the folding chair and batted me into the ropes. Cycle detection algorithms aren't helping and they think any doubles count. Maybe I'll save the second parts for after the holiday.

This year's #AdventOfCode has really kicked my butt this year on part 2. Another situation where all the sample data processes right but there's *something* missing. I can't find where that gap is to save my life.

I think I'm done with ConTeXt now. Too much hassle just to get custom typefaces working. Typst makes it all easier and using it even makes my Makefile look tidier.

Guess that would explain why my old ConTeXt documents wouldn't compile. MkIV documents need to be run with the old LuaTeX while the newest MkXL documents are LuaMetaTeX by default.

There's almost something offensive about selling a piece of wood with preprinted index cards and charging $100+ for it. And THEN topping it off with a subscription for more cards just to play GTD? Now I remember why I stopped bothering with podcasts when they advertise this stuff.

Don't know why Lovecraft's such a popular horror figure. So much of his works boil down to "oh man this is too terrible to describe" and Call of Cthulhu is just a second-hand story of ramming the titular monster with a steamboat.
