Do you have any examples of specific local files that cause breakage, or any other way to reproduce this?

Maybe the web player would use less resources overall for you? Ironically what you’re seeing is because of a performance optimisation - it allows you to scroll before the data to “decorate” each item is loaded.

Anything I can help with? Depending on your bandwidth, you shouldn’t really be seeing this (ideally). How often does it happen?
October 15, 2025 at 9:48 PM
We more often see the other complaint, that everything is too large! One thing you can do now without waiting for changes is increase the zoom level in the settings?

If you click the little arrows at the top right of the library you can basically make the library full screen, hopefully that helps? Also play with the new layout options a bit, you get a few options there like compact/grid etc

Otherwise would love to hear the first change you’d make if you could?

Fair callout, that was perhaps an older intention.

I think over time it’s harder to maintain with more than a few contributors. Nobody is going to argue against giving the new clickable thing more affordance, the older standards become harder to justify on accessibility grounds.

We try to follow rule 2 and use cursor:pointer when something behaves like a link, but yeh could definitely do better on consistency there.

We’re kinda trying to build the best music player on any desktop platform!

Not to say our Linux support couldn’t be improved, it can for sure.
September 19, 2025 at 7:11 PM
A surprising amount of people have asked for it over the years 😆
September 12, 2025 at 8:49 AM
We definitely have lyrics and video? Maybe you’re due an update?

Hopefully the discover weekly tweaks are coming soon 🙏

You can set it up to more closely resemble the old desktop app, expand library, use compact mode etc.

There were a few things the old app did extremely well, but hundreds of things it did not and could never (like accessibility).

I’m the idiot btw 😅

That’s kind of you to say! Wondering if it’s mainly about quality / stability for you? Saw your follow up post.
July 11, 2025 at 1:50 PM
Which version is this? I wonder if it’s an unsupported operating system.
July 10, 2025 at 6:09 PM
Sorry about that. I hope the experience of using Spotify on an old computer is otherwise ok.
July 10, 2025 at 5:56 PM
That’s not normal for sure. We recently release a way to reset the entire app data through the “help > troubleshooting” menu that might help here.
July 8, 2025 at 12:16 PM
Would love to learn more about the desktop app not working. Are both it and windows fully up to date? (assuming windows here)
July 7, 2025 at 3:40 PM
Just to quickly follow up. I did report this! Apparently this version might technically be a rerelease with added tracks, which is why it was delivered as a compilation.

This should get fixed, but the wheels can turn a little slowly. Thanks for noticing!
June 27, 2025 at 4:07 PM
That’s not good and definitely below the standard I’d expect. If something specific happens in future do let me know, and if there’s a way to recreate the problem we’ll make sure to fix it
June 24, 2025 at 5:07 PM
It looks like it has been delivered as a compilation rather than an album, so isn’t appearing there with the album filter on. Select “all” rather than “albums” in the drop down menu in the top right of your pic to see it.

That’s odd. I’ll see if that can be corrected!
June 22, 2025 at 1:40 PM
Although the two apps share a lot (as much as possible really) they have different playback and data stacks, and the desktop one allows us to do some things a lot more easily.
June 15, 2025 at 6:18 PM
Is this satire? I genuinely can’t tell 😅

You also can’t absolve the local unionist (more recently loyalist) political leadership either here.
June 13, 2025 at 4:31 PM
Desktop is still pretty configurable, and you can set it up to look a bit like it did 10 years ago, ignore the home page and focus on library!

Check out the shortcuts too, e.g. cmd+k is a nice way to get around if you know what you want.

Curious what core functionality you think is degraded?
June 13, 2025 at 4:16 PM
Would love to know more about your experiences here, especially re stability.
June 13, 2025 at 2:00 PM
What first change would you like to make, if you could?
