My mom used to read with me all the time, but life happened and she got away from it.
I recently gave her a book to read and she devoured it. Then she asked me to pick out more for her. I’m so excited to go to the bookstore and add a few books to her Christmas presents. 🥹

Writing is fine. It's literally the most embarrassing thing on earth to emotionally put yourself on full display for rejection or validation, but it's good. I enjoy it. I find it therapeutic to horrify myself.

This is how you become a writer: just pick one of the things that is deeply wrong with you. Make it a character. Now send it on a self-help journey or try to kill it. Now call it a book.

Sometimes I lament that I’m not where I want to be. That 4 years have passed and I’m still in the same place.
But if I had gotten agented on the first book, would I have written the ones that followed? Would I have challenged my own writing?
