yeah, that female character eventually became leaf, but what's really interesting to me about this one is that there actually really isn't an equivalent to it in the final game, the female trainers that have hats don't use a sprite like this one

btw I also recreated them (along with the early red sprites) so it's easier to understand what she looks like. Top are final Red, middle is concept Red, bottom is the mystery girl

I don't want to immediately jump on the "FEMALE RED in GEN 1 CONFIRMED?????" thing because it'd be weird if literally no one ever talked about this, but I genuinely don't really know what else these sprites could be

UGH IT'S SO FRUSTRATING. I have a laptop with one of those buttons (copilot button) and I was able to figure out how to change it to do something else (open minecraft) but it's so frustrating when it's right next to the arrow keys and I'm playing a game and accidentally hit it
