It's fun to watch (and participate in) attempts to be apolitical when talking internally about what's happening to the fed gov't. "Washington shit storm" is my current phrase, and people seem to allow it.

I saw this blatant disallowed DEI display on government property. (Those are FEMA water tanks... maybe the reason someone said we should "delete" FEMA)

Anyone use metaclasses or decorators in Python? I thought they were useless when I learned about them, but now I make them fairly often. So was I dumb when I first learned about them or dumb now for using them?

If you're studying to be an engineer right now, and you want to do numerical/computing work, PLEASE learn how to use Linux. The universities are really dropping the ball on this, and I'm tired it.

Sometimes you have a sign error and end up doing minimization when you thought you were maximizing. The evidence says this happens a lot to other people, too...

I'm just trying to imagine how eliminating telework for civil servants would improve efficiency... as my team did great work over the weekend in 15-minute chunks they would NEVER have gone in to the office for.

Mount Michael is my favorite mountain. Do you know how rare persistent lava lakes are? And one of them wasn't found until like 2022? Now *that's* remote.

Getting a tsunami alert yesterday in Mountain View felt a bit like getting a hurricane warning in Iowa... but all the websites with tsunami maps promptly crashed after that warning got sent to millions of phones.

Feeling some real anticipation for Artemis II (a first for me despite working on it for several years). Seems apparent there will be an announcement Friday, and I hope it's the one I'm expecting #NASA
