What sort of work do you do? I was lucky to be able to travel with my job. Lots of overseas conferences and invitations to talk here and there. I too enjoyed Europe a lot. I've been to 49 of the states: can you guess which one I haven't? cheers

I really liked Slovenia. It was part of a 3 month 12 country tour my wife and I did during my sabbatical year. I've been living in a rather plain and boring town in Western PA now. A good reason to travel!

just testing animation -- have tried several approaches unsuccessfully: uploading SVG, uploading animated GIF, moving animation to GIPHY and then pointing to there from here.

𝐼𝑛𝑡𝑒𝑟𝑒𝑠𝑡𝑖𝑛𝑔! But pasting italicized text from a word-processor doesn't work. Are they using some Unicode symbols for italicized letters? Thanks for the tip.

~20 years ago I had idea: How about I construct with a crowd of linguists and other academics an N x N co-occurrence frequency matrix of the number of hits returned by Google in a search of pairs of keywords in a given specialty content area, so as to determine lexical distances thus providing a map
