I’m trying to reach these people. Not “meet them in the middle” but by letting them speak while I calmly listen. Sometimes all they need to do is be heard and we can have discourse. This is the path back to civility

They’re not the same. One is batshit insane and evil, the other is criminally incompetent, there’s a clear difference.
