In times of crisis, symbols become both more powerful and more simplified. They lose whatever nuance they may have contained. Taking the American flag back from the fascists, would be a powerful victory. Nuanced cultural heritage battles can be fought when the fascists have been defeated.

This feels like a major miscalculation. As someone who lives in a deeply red area whose biggest employer is a major military base, this is going to piss off a lot of his voters. Not the diehard MAGAs but those frustratingly, willfully ignorant ones that I’m related to.
