Famously no FBI informant has ever participated in the crimes that they were informing upon, just ask anyone from Boston.

Life is so much better when streets are given to people

This line is to view a studio apartment in NYC. America has Soviet bread lines for housing. We need to end government-imposed supply constraints.

Whatever trains could and should be built, it’s certainly not light rail. This distance is way too long. This is high speed rail distances

Don’t worry, I annoy her with those too 😂

I was on vacation with my German gf and her family in Croatia this week. Her brother asked me why I took this photo of a nondescript European street, and the groan my gf uttered when I said “the single staircase buildings” is one of the best memories of the trip. 10/10 would recommend

All of the cars combined in this image, assuming 1.5 people per car, carry fewer people than that one bus.

Traffic is nothing more than a geometry problem.

Even here in Germany, where chains are *much* less common, my local plaza and shopping street was anchored by a couple chain bakeries, grocery stores, and florists. They were greatly outnumbered by non-chains and food stalls, but the chains help a lot.

Easy solution: legalize this on every lot in DC and the housing shortage will be solved before 2030

Will it ever happen? No, but I like to dream.

IMO nothing worse than the historically preserved strip mall on top of the Cleveland Park metro stop. Just an absolute embarrassment on so many levels. Not to mention the atrocity of the adjacent zoning.

Mostly because it’s my hometown, but I really think Reading is a great example of how the 2-staircase requirement (yellow) makes new buildings dwarf classic MFH (red, classic Somerville-esque triple-decker)

This is why we need to legalize single staircase buildings

Well, seems like IRS really did get DOGE'd, huh?

It is famously impossible to have public space for public gathering if you build apartment buildings. It just doesn’t exist anywhere in the world!

Imagine if American cities prioritized public space and community to such an extent that there could be a festival every weekend all summer…

You want to build community? You need to first build public spaces for community to thrive like this

Also gotta appreciate the *impeccable* land use here for a metro stop (red X). Truly is the worst of all worlds

The worst “two stairwell, long hallway” apartment building I’ve ever been in is actually right across the street from this. This building is an absolute nightmare.

I recently met a Bostonian here in Frankfurt, and they were complaining about how bad traffic back home.

I explained this @nacto.bsky.social chart, saying that one commuter rail line has the equivalent of a ~40 lane wide highway, and tbh I think that helped more than anything else I could’ve said
