I think you’re right about it providing context for that fuller story. I still don’t particularly like that story though haha

I was mainly just talking about which show I enjoyed more haha. And I think the main reason is that the empire already in place is a lot more compelling to me than the fall of the republic. And way cooler ships.

What I look at is bad movies that are not saved by a cartoon show that beats you over the head with Anakins conflict that STILL isn’t compelling!

Yeah with my kids (6 and 9) I’ve just had it on and they’ve decided to sit down and watch. We’ve jumped from TNG to DS9 to TOS to Voyager and they’ve had fun. If they really get INTO it then we can get more detailed.

The idea that a cartoon that was immediately surpassed by its successor (Rebels) does anything for those movies is continuously baffling to me.

It feels like this season especially should have been easy to build excitement for given the returning freshman and everything. Huge missed opportunity

Yeah I absolutely don’t buy the “open secret” bit. Maybe this is a wake up call that I’m out of the game but I’d have heard at least something by now if it was that widespread. Feels like revisionist history to me.
