May 10, Fort Monroe Beach, Hampton, VA. We were told by a local birder that this is the first sighting of black skimmers here. NPS closed the beach where they were nesting.

We started with the trailer and realized we grossly underestimated the space we’d need (and, thus, the budget) to move the kids from Blacksburg to Lexington. One 16’ Penske and an afternoon later, we were ready to hit the road.
