So tonight's The White Lotus in a nutshell

Saw the 1st ep of The Studio. It's as great as the raves claim, and not just because of the cameos. There's also something deeply truthful about depicting modern studio heads as not big swaggering Les Grossman or Ari Gold, but a petrified Seth Rogen desperate to make IP "and art"

Not even 7 minutes in, and we're already aping Ready Player One, famously Steven Spielberg's most popular and celebrated movie. But y'know, without the grace or visual wizardry of the Beard's camera movements. You weren't kidding @joewriteswords.bsky.social!

It's been a long, long week. And now a friend and I have decided to crack open some cold ones and see what everyone has been, uh, raving about in The Electric State. Are we masochists? I dunno, but I figure I might as well live-tweet this experiment in pain. And. Here. We. Go.

The morning after and it still feels a little strange that the Academy agreed with me on the best film of the year again. Either the #Oscars tastes are legitimately getting cooler this decade or mine more conventional. Either way congrats, Queen!

Interesting that the Academy is doing a tribute/farewell to James Bond like the character just died. And you know what? Maybe he did.... Godspeed, James.

There’s been nitpicking & heavy scrutiny of the first trailer of James Gunn’s Superman on here. It’s only a teaser and Jor-El knows I’ve been fooled before by them (including by Supes movies), but for whatever else this image promises a level of earnestness & romance rarely seen in CBMs. I like that
