The initial Zika outbreak in 2016 was terrifying and I feel for how scary it must’ve been to not know whether her unborn child had contracted it. But… she didn’t. Her daughter was born healthy.

It took her over 20hrs to get there because SF is located 6,000 miles away from João Pessoa (she’s actually closer to Japan than this part of Brazil). At one point in the book, she makes fun of Joel Kaplan for needing an atlas, but maybe she should’ve consulted it before writing this chapter…
