Perhaps so, but I’d like to see him do things he campaigned on like rescheduling cannabis, solitary confinement, death penalty, etc.

And also D’s not capitulate and hand them circuit court appointments or give Trump dictator type power.

That’s what came across on your comment, i was thinking of all the gleeful cheering in the op’s replies.

I get the sentiment but i think it’s better to have credibility for when Trump pulls shit.

They wanna sack up for nepotism but in the same week give Trump 4 circuit court picks.

This is from Sept. She started out populist economic but big donors made her transition.

The campaign strategists deserve plenty of scorn too. It was astonishingly poorly run.

Very true. Labor Secretary looks like a welcome exception though.

I remember when we all knew intelligence services suck, and big pharma should be scrutinized.

But cia didn’t like Trump and became “a sacred institutions” and pharma became “the science”

That the revolving door corrupts govt, was standard liberal dogma. With Kennedy saying it, who knows? 🤷‍♂️

…It’s wild because they knew all this. Campaigns are all about data and polling. If The Guardian and YouGov knew this, certainly they did. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

It’s disheartening to see people who claim to champion science - and compassion - write/share a post that suggests recovery from addiction disqualifies someone from being a health advocate. Dude’s a hypocrite for sure - there’s plenty of examples - but not because of that.

…or vote for disruption. Take for instance the 7-9mil people who voted for Obama in ‘12 then Trump in ‘16. Not saying it was a good idea. But I do believe the Harris campaign was awful and the D party needs to get their shit together.
December 1, 2024 at 7:10 AM
Okay: Because the Dems have abandoned the working class, many people’s lives have gotten materially worse under both parties. They’re disenfranchised so to them it’s not possible to vote AGAINST their interests, that would imply there’s an option that advances their interests. So they don’t vote…

…arent (intentionally) making a political statement. Their lives have gotten materially worse under both parties. They’re disenfranchised and hopeless that it will make any difference to them. And tbh they’re justified to feel that way.

Me too, but they’re vocal and online. We don’t see the majority of the 89mil bc they’re not even acknowledged let alone discussed. (eg Favreau saying emphatically a MAJORITY of the country chose Trump. He got 77mil non-voters were 89mil).

Turns out they’re mostly poor people of color who…

I agree but it wasn’t dumbass-ery. Winning was not their priority. They’d much rather lose than do anything economically left.

CE women went 61% for Harris 37% for Trump. Given the disparity I submit that gender-specific concerns played a more central role than the quality of superior manipulation resistance.

A. 2 pics clearly show they’re from U of VA

B. By that odd logic, anytime police or counter protestors beat up peaceful protestors, it’s now a violent protest therefore illegal. Horrible and incorrect.

C. 97% of protests were peaceful (see pic)

D. UCLA is PUBLIC Property

Not arguing the righteousness of their decision, but it looks like they used their support as leverage to win a victory for workers.

That seems more effective than telling people to unconditionally vote for the Dem candidate, and then after the election we’ll be able to pressure them.
November 30, 2024 at 8:00 AM
On your last point - he will undoubtedly exacerbate anxieties, but surely we must acknowledge they existed well before Trump and both parties are responsible, no?

Without consequences?
November 30, 2024 at 7:37 AM
There’s good reason to be disdainful of Trump supporters, but looking down your nose at all less-educated people is bigoted and repugnant.

BTW, stating as axiomatic that “educated people” are harder to manipulate makes you look ridiculous.

Let’s be better than this.
November 30, 2024 at 7:18 AM
It’s axiomatic that the Dems abandoned the working class, both in policy and in messaging. You don’t think the Party has any responsibility to earn votes?

“Should we find out why 89mil eligible people didn’t vote and what we can do to earn their support?”

“No. Let’s say horrible things.”

“Should we at least Google who they are so we don’t accidentally look like racist monsters.”

“Less talking, more shaming!”

There’s good reason to be disdainful of Trump supporters, but to then look down your nose at all less-educated people is bigoted and repugnant. And you look especially ridiculous stating as axiomatic that educated people are harder to manipulate.
