5. Last but not least, bee balm (monarda), is loved by bees and butterflies. The scarlet variety also attracts hummingbirds. The leaves & flowers are edible, and used in many herbal remedies. Tea made of its leaves fights colds. Salve made of leaves is antibacterial. Disclaimer: We are not doctors.

1. The 🐐, common milkweed (Asclepias syriaca), is beautiful, fragrant, and resilient. It’s the only food monarch caterpillars like (picky eaters, moms know all about that. 🙄). Birds like the seed pods.

Looking for native ground cover? Meet the common blue violet (Viola sororia). In addition to being beautiful & one of the first blooms every year, this violet is a host plant for several fritillary butterfly species. Also, flowers & leaves are edible. #NativePlants #PollinatorGardens #Gardening
