If we accept that 40% of people are neurodivergent (and I don't), it doesn't carry much meaning. All my classes have managed silent working for the last few years. We have a lesson near the beginning of the year called something like "everyone's different" in which I stress that we're similar /1

This is interesting. However, as a parent, prior to my child's autism diagnosis, relying on the skills of school-based practitioners to see him as a human being and respond accordingly was a complete disaster. I know that diagnoses are problematic, especially as the DSM has taken on a life of /1

I trained, we were told we must be lifelong learners. It took me a while to understand what that meant.

I have got better at teaching, even when the wider context has been weak. I read quite a bit and am always looking for ways to improve regardless of what's happening in other classrooms. It's tempting to think that after 20 something years there's nothing left to learn, but that's not true. When /1

My kid has a diagnosis of autism and a severe anxiety disorder. Contrary to his point, both diagnoses have been helpful and, while I appreciate it isn't for everyone, so has medication. Articles like this risk marginalising and isolating us further. These are controversial views which require /1
