6-5 #Flyers win in OT.

I would not be surprised if Michkov is primed to go on a big tear soon. His underlying numbers have been rising rapidly over the last few weeks (he was at one point in the single digits of WAR %tile, RAPM underwater). The PP needs work, which he need to help with.

3-2, #Flyers lose in OT. Thought they looked great in the 3rd, and Michkov in particular is starting to look back to normal. Would like to see his ice time start to reflect that. Love Drysdale's positioning on his goal, same spot as before.

Heck, Seeler himself was awesome by the analytics two years ago! He hasn't really changed his play style at all. He's just getting older and is in a system that I don't think works for him, vs. Torts's which I think was perfect to use him to his ability.

There are a ton defensive defensemen that grade out well. Jason Slavin and Risto are two of them. Ekholm, Pesce, etc. Hell, look at York's chart above. His total value is driven by defense. The goal is to prevent chances, and just winning a puck battle doesn't actually mean you've prevented that.

Drysdale's isolation stats are coming back down to earth, Seeler's aren't great across the board. This could change dramatically over 1k more minutes. Included last year for comparison. Re: eye test is one of my gripes with it, I'm looking at the same player as you but drawing a different result.

In the offseason, I was pretty firm with my belief that #Flyers Cam York should not be a candidate for PP time based on his not great results with significant PP time prior, and generally based on his play style.

Through 10 games, York ranks on the team (via RAPM) on the PP:

GF/60: 2nd
xGF/60: 5th

@evolvingwild.evolving-hockey.com Hate to bother but I have a question player cards: what are these percentile ranks using? Is it as simple as GAR + xGAR, is it based on one or the other, or is there some formula that weighs the two differently? Scoured your website but couldn't find any info.

5-4 #Flyers win. At 5v5, Flyers whooped butt. Couldn't make it with the PK, but came away with the win. Michkov with a sneaky effective game, but Zegras was the clear standout. Man, what a game for him.

Brutal game. I think the less we talk about it the better.

Just catching up to the game and saw the shot totals. I know Tocchet prefers more selective shots than pure volume, but 9 shots through most of 2 periods isn’t cutting it. They’re also not producing enough dangerous chances to make up for it, as they’re the among the lower xGF teams in the league.
November 3, 2025 at 1:40 AM
#Flyers lose, 5-2. They largely kept up in the 5v5 xG battle (losing 1.79 xG to 1.98), but sometimes you just have an off game. Vladar didn't look really out of place, so might just be luck. Hope that their B2B vs. the Flames tomorrow goes better.

Looking good so far! @hinx.bsky.social And as we all know, 10 game sample sizes are always correct and stay true forever.
November 1, 2025 at 10:45 PM
I was correct. 4-1 #Flyers, I thought Jamie Drysdale in particular played better than his underlying numbers but when you get shelled sometimes that happens.
October 31, 2025 at 2:13 AM
One of those games where it doesn’t feel as bad as the underlying numbers say, imo.

I know Zegras and Drysdale have been getting most of the #Flyers 25-26 attention (and for good reason), and there's genuine excitement about guys like Brink/Cates finding new levels, but arguably the Flyers best player this year has been Foerster, who seems to ascended to genuine star level.
October 29, 2025 at 8:57 PM
3-2 #Flyers final in a fun one. Drysdale continues to look impressive. Foerster continues to rule, even if they stole his goal away. Michkov started to look the part. And Brink is making a case for himself to be a part of this team's long term plans.

many are saying this
October 29, 2025 at 12:07 AM
Some of my favorite early charts. Drysdale, very good in everything except actually putting the puck into the net. Owen Tippett with a comical amount of OxGAR.
October 27, 2025 at 1:42 PM
Yesterday's #Flyers vs #Senators game. Had to expand the bounds to even show Michkov on it, who decided that he's had enough of Ottawa and wanted to generated *all* the offense. Continue to be surprised and elated that Drysdale posts such good defensive results as frequent as he has this season.
