It's a bit harder here - they'd have to get to the top of one of the big 2 parties, and they're not selected by popular vote like in the US. It's still not impossible - the libs have a pretty big lunatic fringe to begin with, and I imagine they're looking at the US and salivating.

The big danger is that we're primed for a similar 'out of the box' candidate to come in - both major parties lack any kind of beneficial vision.
