If you have rads, you can heat just the rooms you need, put the other rads to zero. We've done this in our spare bedroom.

Unlikely, they tend to out the charging spots well out of the way, in my experience.

If the offspring are working in the farm, does that change the inheritance position? And if they're not working on the farm, then surely it's as much an estate as the family home, liable to IHT when it breaches all the thresholds?
