I’ve grown and learned a lot at NBC News. I won’t miss 30 Rock during holiday season but I will miss working on the roof during the summer months ☀️

I’m endlessly grateful for NBC News Guild for supporting me and my colleagues. We won’t stop for pushing for a fair contract!

I also wrote about one of my favorite corners of the internet as a teen: 2014 Tumblr. Nostalgia for it in recent years has signaled a desire for a more fun, less pristine, and lower stakes internet experience, a sentiment that has only grown in recent months. www.nbcnews.com/pop-culture/...
From Addison Rae to King Kylie, 2014 Tumblr is back in a big way
Every few years, millennials and Gen Zers revisit the early 2010s Tumblr aesthetic. Here's why some say 2014 remains a significant year in our collective cultural imagination.

Growing up online has shaped how Gen Z forms interpersonal relationships and I think it’s really interesting to look at how we connect — from dating to partying. I wrote a story on bygone eras of clubbing and how Gen Z is shaping their own nightlife experiences www.nbcnews.com/pop-culture/...
Some Gen Zers are nostalgic for an era of clubbing they didn’t get to experience
Zoomers on TikTok are finding that nightlife in 2023 is no longer about “getting crunk in the club” — but that’s OK.

I write a lot about stan culture and pop music fandom, in part because I’ve been in these spaces for a long time. As a teen, I was a huge Directioner so writing about Liam Payne’s death, the 1D fandom, and early Stan Twitter was so bittersweet. www.nbcnews.com/pop-culture/...
For One Direction fans, Liam Payne's death is a 'watershed' moment
"Directioners" mourned the singer-songwriter while reflecting on the complicated legacy he leaves behind.

I’ve covered the ticketing and live events industries a lot over the past two years, from trends among concertgoers to legislation about ticketing fees. I loved working on this piece about consumer suggestions for making concert tickets more accessible to real fans. www.nbcnews.com/pop-culture/...
Ticketmaster says ‘Verified Fan’ registration doesn’t measure fandom. Some fans think it should.
“Most people don’t really like Verified Fan, because it’s based on nothing," one fan said.

I covered the Ruby Franke/8 Passengers case very closely. This investigation into her business partner Jodi Hildebrandt’s “life coaching” service Connexions was one of the most illuminating parts of my reporting. It remains one of the best stories I've ever done. www.nbcnews.com/news/jodi-hi...
Ruby Franke's business partner gave life coaching that ruined lives, some former clients say
Several people who spoke with NBC News said Hildebrandt, who also was charged with counts of felony child abuse, destroyed their relationships with loved ones.

I was grateful to work on this story about content creators in Gaza documenting their daily lives and finding moments of joy amid destruction. I spoke to 19-year-old TikToker Medo Halimy about his content before he was killed by an Israeli airstrike two months later. www.nbcnews.com/news/world/g...
From 'tent life' to soccer matches, creators in Gaza share glimpses of daily life during war
Some creators are showing the small joys and routines they experience despite displacement and loss.

I’ve been looking into the working conditions on creator productions over the years including the controversy around Beast Games. I wrote about how it revealed the growing pains within some YouTuber-run production companies and how it impacts cast/crew on these sets.
www.nbcnews.com/pop-culture/...
‘Beast Games’ set issues highlight growing pains in YouTuber-run productions
YouTube channels are gaining more mainstream attention — but some in the digital entertainment industry think growth should require better oversight.
