Lucifer was a minor Roman god, son of Aurora (Eos), the goddess of dawn, and brother of twilight (Vesper). He was the personification of the planet Venus when it appears in the sky before dawn, the “bearer of light,” or in Latin ‘Lucifer’ (lux + ferre) = “the one who brings light.”
