Oh, and the corporate “franchising” of these specialties that sort of enables some collective bargaining/pooling with ins absolutely lowers standards of care to prioritize profit. And ties providers and patient options to that profit.

the incredible amount of stress involved when trying to provide the right care for patients’ needs all while both parties are trying to jump through the hoops of insurance requirements. Health care (and training and ins) needs to be separated from profit seeking.

will be even more tied to wealth. That’s without even touching the cost of training—hundreds of thousands in debt before a provider even sees a patient. With so many having left the field since COVID started, even fewer will enter the healthcare field. And that’s just about getting paid—never mind

I’d like to add that the ins companies will also screw over providers and likely reimburse at lower rates, for which providers have NO collective bargaining possible (it’s illegal), which will exacerbate providers dropping ins (especially ‘specialties’ like vision/dental). Then access to care…

When we lived in Germany the “autofrei” days folks would put tables in the streets and have food/beverages.

Also farm —> table dinners at farms, or wine tastings at wineries.

Block party in neighborhoods—we’ve lived multiple places around the US where this is a Thing, and the cities even have a program to support it (road barriers, trailer with tables, etc).
