Grant writing for a non-profit really jaded me. The hoops that orgs have to jump through to possibly get the awards, and then comply with reporting are not worth the paltry $1000. Businesses could quickly end the suffering of many people, but instead they just offer pennies.

🧵 A dance critic's review of ICE's latest site-specific performance:
After a ragged entrance to a rousing audio score of angry Chicagoans, the uncertain performers waited nervously for the piece to begin. The choreographer chose to mask most of the performers and dress them in helmets and drab…

I also write about dance and recently reviewed Bovino’s clownish show of ICE force as if it were a site dance performance. I cannot recommend any repeat performances of his, but there will be many to come, sigh.

Thanks, and please do share! My choir teacher in high school taught me this and I tell everyone I can, especially when things get hard and I’m losing hope. Pass it on and know that your voice inspires folks, even when you have to take a breath.

I am a dancer who learned this inspiring lesson in choir. The power of the arts… 💃

Still awed by the capacity of the leadership in this country to overlook the consistent abuse of women and children. Indeed, children don’t forget this kind of trauma.

Dance historian here - Fred Astaire also often eschewed belts, choosing instead to wear a necktie as a belt. I’d love to get your take on that.
