It looks great. But I think I’m wrongly tagged. I’m no novelist. Business books only from me.

You’re clearly good at it!

Is this your garden?!

I know. And in the 90s. It was extraordinary

Apparently his wife may have been a MUCH bigger part of his work than is usually acknowledged. The gardens are beautiful. And bc of him my first weekend in what was to become my home for 3 years was at a ZAZEN retreat in the hills of Shimane. Wonderful experience.

Sorry both! Just saw you’d already posted about this. I got excited because I lived where he did in Japan.

Gorgeous! Check out Lafcadio Hearn. Real connections to Ireland despite Wikipedia et al saying he’s British. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lafcadi... his memorial
Gardens in Tramore (near Waterford) are a hidden gem.

It’s so different from English that I’d recommend a literal as well as a “real” translation to help you get a sense of it. One to one translations of poetry might be interesting depending on what you’re trying to achieve. The grammar is always diabolical though.

Why are you so bad at this?

Peer reviewed articles have been roundly ignored by every family member, most friends and healthcare workers I’ve shared them with. As have “for the people” articles with links to studies. “Lessons learned” is mealy mouthed. What was learned? By whom? What difference has it made?

How is it an open question when we’re looking at failing policy responses in real time as we discuss those “revealed” by various inquests as well as time?

How about acting effectively THIS TIME Danny?!?

The pandemic is still here: 400 deaths per week in the US currently (and climbing again), goodness knows how many new cases of long COVID

“I’m after getting robbed” was used by a professor of mine in my first class. I understood it differently from non Hiberno English speakers. Decades ago and it sparked my (it now appears) life long interest in language and communication.

It’s been the most amazing thing to watch happen from the outside. How far in some ways. And still so much the same in others. Change and how it happens (or doesn’t) is always fascinating

It is strange looking back. But then IIRC I’ve seen Modern Family in KSA.
