Has the republic already fallen? Despite Trump's blather and bluster, Elon Musk has control of the government. He was not elected or confirmed by the Senate, he's using a line-item veto that has no basis in law. He's cutting agencies and programs that were passed into law. There is no oversight.

Right now I'm struggling to find any reason to celebrate the coming of 2025. With Trump, Musk, and their minions in full control of the government,
Putin continuing the slaughter in Ukraine -- and holding Trump's leash to boot.

Beginning to think I'm not qualified to be on this site. There are many brilliant minds on here. Sclentists, artists, researchers, so much more. Is there a place for an old former sports writer who's just trying to figure out how to keep democracy alive in the dystopian United States?

I have to admit that so far I'm not sure what I'm doing. Trying to get the hang of Bluesky. I'm more used to finding what interests me on the home page and going from there than in picking in advance from what seems a rather limited list of options. Tips anyone?
