Our sample approximates the Danish population in age, gender, and education, but is not representative. We only received data donations from people who use YouTube substantially. So, a lot of light YouTube-use and use from devices that are not logged into an account is not represented in our data.

PewDiePie and MrBeast are by far the most subscribed-to channels in our dataset. DR’s P3 Essensen is the only channel from a traditional Danish media organization that made it into the top 20.

The most frequent language in the videos Danes watch on YouTube is English. We found almost 80% of the videos with detectable language to be in English and around 16% to be in Danish. These numbers must be taken with a grain of salt due to the way we measured it but they paint an undeniable picture.

All data donors combined have watched almost 19 million videos on YouTube over the course of the last 15 years. 3 million of these videos were advertisements.

We asked over 1000 Danes to donate their YouTube data to us and who they are, how they are doing, and how they view the world.
