Tonight I saw a movie where lots of physical and psychological harm could have been prevented had a school just had a better policy about how to handle students who’s parents are HOURS late picking them up.

As the fash watch I assume you are familiar with the ways corporations and people in power chipping away at the requirement to prove defamation in order to use the threat of lawsuits to silence those covering them.

Defamation predates the 1st amendment. But i assume you mean modern day defamation and I’d urge you to pay attention to how power people and companies are using defamation suits to go after media trying to cover them such as with Gawker case or Trump’s WSJ case

Yes it does which is why the Supreme court established the Malice standard in 1964.
Without which, media can be sued for defamation by the people in power they’re reporting on effectively eliminating free speech

I think when people say “the Democratic party” they’re talking about the people who have influence within the party. The network of politicians and donors that wield the kind of influence that can push or suppress media narratives or pressure Joe Biden to drop out, for example.

If the Democrats pitch to the voters is “we cant pass the thing you want because we cant get 60 votes so we’re not going to try” who would vote for them?
If the party says we’re going to push for a very popular policy then they at least give themselves a chance to get 60 seats.

But if you start with proposing the compromised plan it will only get watered down from there. Especially when the politician proposing the plan and their party are taking money from the insurance and phrama companies.

Do you talk to people in real life? Cause many of the most die hard bernie supporters i knew weren’t just voting for a person but for a chance to improve their lives. People drowning in medical debt, people struggling to afford rent and people barely scraping by.

And why isn’t there support in congress for something democratic voters support by like 80% and voters in general support by 60%?
