The opposite of absurd is chocolate.
A whole industry of workshops, training sessions, retreats and meditation practices promises fulfillment through mindfulness. We need to be reminded to be mindful because we have a mind full of ingrained thought patterns we are not mindful of.

I came across a video from music producer Rick Rubin saying something to the effect of "delusions are where artists live." And it seemed to speak a truth about the artistic process. In this chapter of “A Possible Life”, I go with the term "illusion" (having a slightly less pathological overtone).

Today’s Donald Trump is not the most corrupt president in history. That would be tomorrow’s Donald Trump.
Trump has built a PARDON PIPELINE to the White House now facilitated by his lackey: newly appointed Pardon Attorney, Ed Martin.

Just how low can Trump go? Oh, it's bad.

I think it’s outrageous that PBS tried to teach me last night about systemic racism in the history of the medical profession. I am outraged that I never knew this before. And I am outraged that they are trying to cut funding for public media, which will make it hard for me to learn these things.

Sure looks like insider trading. I guess we’ll never know if he intentionally crashed the market. One thing we do know is Biden never did that. When he was in office the market never crashed.

At this point, it kind of amounts to piling on. Oh what the heck.

The Elastic Year

I continue on with my amble through the subject of extending possibilities as we age. This chapter takes on our perception of time. The usual thought is that time seems to accelerate as we age. While that is true, I guess I’m asking; Is it inevitable?

Anyone who thinks that Mahmoud Khalil shouldn’t be released immediately should read up on the Brandenberg v. Ohio Supreme Court decision in 1969.

This part of my personal history shaped me in ways that reveal themselves to me daily. Though the experience itself was in turn blissfull, chaotic, even terrifying, the insights gained into how we perceive the world and interact with each other were long lasting.

Rim shot.
I can’t remember where I read this, but it’s important:

Why is it that when people think about traveling to the past, they worry about doing something small that will drastically change the present, but no one in the present thinks that doing something small today can drastically change the future?

“I’m inspired by the quirky, angular humor that rises up and knocks you for a loop all in the space of a sentence or two. If irony or paradox or absurdity play a role, all the better. If I stumble on a pun, my pain is yours.”

You know that windfall you’re seeing in your 401-K right now? Take out a big chunk and send it to the ACLU. My wife did. One way to make it all make sense.
