doing philosophy at Penn for now
Going to a Philosophy PhD program has always been a dream of mine. This application season I applied to both law school and grad school. Going to law school is always an "option B" for me. But with what is happening recently, I have now a strong inclination to accept the law school offer.

I am surprised to find that Little Red Note, my favorite Chinese app, is suddenly flooded with Americans who become "Tiktok Refugees". A lot of interesting cross-cultural conversations are taking place on it, which is a good thing! Feel free to comment if one has trouble using it #tiktok ban

Just realized anti-colonial philosopher Frantz Fanon died 63 years ago yesterday. Adam Shatz had recently written a biography of Fanon that tries to describe him as a human rather than merely as an icon. In Shatz's book, a very human moment of Fanon is recounted: #anticolonialism #Fanon #frenchphil

Curious:

Why is the field of clinical psych PhD so insanely competitive??? Most of the programs have an acceptance rate around 1%. Meanwhile, there seems to be a huge demand for competent clinical psychologists. Does not make sense to me. #clinicalpsychology #PhDapplication

Had a terrible experience today presenting my research on philosophy at a conference full of social scientists. They came up to me and asked me what *data and methods* I used to reach my conclusion. I informed them that I used a method known as "thought experiment".
