I hate this so much. Prison is an appropriate punishment but doesn't bring back the person unalived. I haven't even been able to build the strength to investigate the details. I do feel like I've heard the song before though.

Thanks for taking the time to read and engage with my essay. I loved the metaphor of the two-way street. As sociologists and as a society we need to lean into more complex understandings of guns, recognizing their paradoxical qualities.

I hate the idea but I like the phrasing.

"If it could save one child's life" is a conversation-stopper for me. It tells me exactly what the person is about to say. NOT "we should ban alcohol." NOT "raise the minimum swimming age to 21." NOT "reduce the speed limit to 55 MPH max." So many possibilities that could follow that preface.
