Quality Virginia rye, as was, 1858 (from the Alexandria Gazette, October 25th). Note the hops, an old Dutch ingredient that still sneaks into some bourbons through their yeast culture, where it's used as a preservative. (A little goes a long way)

Nice to see Demerara Distillers/El Dorado reaching into their (vast) stocks to come out with cool, and damn tasty, bottlings like this one.

A truly wonderful pairing: the dry, crisp and completely non-flabby prosekar (the original, pre-export market version of prosecco) from Skabar, the hipster princes of Triestine winemakers, plus the bitter, funky (and strong!) liqueur Chartreuse makes out of their elixir. #nichedrinking
