The reasons for trading Soto apply now to Gore, Wood, and Abrams — perhaps even more so, which is just a really awful place to be in. All while Nationals Park is one of the most mediocre and expensive fan experiences in all of professional sports. Just an all around terrible place to find ourselves.

Just as Rizzo shouldn’t have been in charge of the rebuild after producing such a terrible farm system, the biggest problem now remains is timing. No TV deal for next season and incoming labor issues could really crash DC baseball for another generation.

Fantastic episode. I think the comments about Rizzo and Martinez being too comfortable ring very, very true. Hard to be too optimistic about where things are headed given the noted issues around the ownership group, but at least someone else is pulling the trigger on the draft.

Great episode! Important to add to this whole saga is that there’s a lot of smoke around the idea that MLB wants the local streaming rights to as many teams as they can get by 2028 when their next national tv deals are up. To me, that means a short term tv deal or straight to MLB.tv streaming.
