I’m not convinced that this team absolutely needs to add a 2C to make the playoffs. Certainly they need a strong 2C going forward and Hughes will find the answer in time.

They don’t have to be as vigilant on the calls. Start calling headshots regularly and the incidence will drop. The biggest problem right now is over-vigilance on hooking and slashing and failure to call headshots, boarding and hitting from behind. Call the areas of potential injury.

One problem with that is if he has to play 25 to 30 minutes it may mean the team isn’t good enough to win.

I want the same for Matheson as I do for all Habs players. Growth and improvement that increases his value in Montreal or elsewhere. The numbers game will look after itself and I trust HuGo to treat all players fairly when deciding who stays or goes.

Nothing to lose. Every bit of improvement he experiences will be a plus. Personally I hope he plays well enough to earn himself a job, in Montreal or elsewhere.

I’d like to see them lose just enough games to remain irrelevant. Stay the course with their GM, coach, captain and Tavares. I think I’m just nasty. No I don’t!!

I think the Habs had three Michel goalies at the same time: Plasse, DeGuise, and LaRoque.

Habs will have a huge decision to make with Matheson/Engstrom/Guhle and they’ll put it off as long as possible. Could be a big return next year.

Veleno looked better last night. Maybe he is hearing footsteps behind him. I think Texier could compete with Veleno and Davidson for ice time and allow more development time for Xhekaj, Roy and Beck.
