No I’m not ‘baiting’… I think I know what you mean by that… I use an app called ground news that pulls together what many different news sources are saying from across the globe about any one news story. That gives me a balanced view of news. You might like to check it out.

What do you mean? Do you have any examples? Surely there must be some news outlets that provide a balanced, accurate account of things.

Thanks. Interesting. So my bad, I should have said that Trump won the popular vote (sadly in my view) and the second map does not convey how close the popular vote was.

Oh I didn’t realise that. What was the final count?
December 1, 2024 at 9:11 PM
Well, that’s an interesting map. However, the reality is that he got over 50% of the popular vote (sadly) and the second map doesn’t really reflect that

Emphasis on the last seven words. I’m sure that we as Europeans feel exactly what the framers would feel if they were alive today. Indeed, I am pretty sure that 49% of the American voting public and the rest of the western world feel exactly what the framers would feel if they were alive today.

I don’t know about you, but when someone says what Trump said in the Access Hollywood tape, to me that is clearly admitting that he has sexually assaulted women and my books that makes him a sex offender

As a result the jury found Trump guilty of sexual abuse and defamation. Civil cases require a “preponderance of the evidence” standard, meaning the jury believed it was more likely than not that the assault occurred.
December 1, 2024 at 8:37 PM
And then there was the “Access Hollywood” tape in which Trump made explicit comments about women, including statements like “Grab ’em by the pussy.” This is “Hard” evidence and makes it clear that Trump has a propensity for the behavior Carroll described.
December 1, 2024 at 8:37 PM
Then there were two contemporaneous witnesses who had testified that Carol had confided in them about the alleged assault shortly after it occurred, providing contemporaneous corroboration of her account.
December 1, 2024 at 8:37 PM
Well let’s see…the jury’s verdict was based on several pieces of evidence. The first piece of evidence that I can think of was the testimonies from other accusers who testified that Trump had sexually assaulted them in incidents similar to Carroll’s allegations. Admittedly that’s not hard evidence.

As for the court being full of kangaroos, well, it’s your court, the jury selection was agreed by both parties. Are you saying that Trump’s lawyers selected kangaroos for the jury?

In my books if you’re found liable for sexual abuse, then you are a sex offender.

He was charged with defamation and battery under New York’s Adult Survivors Act, a law specifically designed to allow survivors of sexual abuse to bring claims even if the statute of limitations for criminal prosecution has expired. The jury found Trump liable for sexual abuse and defamation.

And finally I’m not part of the left. There are some things that I stand behind which are not supported by the left, like supporting Isreal in its fight against Iran supported groups attacking it… but is a convicted felon and a sexual abuser (which I call a sex offender) Oval Office material?
December 1, 2024 at 7:09 AM
Regarding Trump’s cases being overturned or dropped, legal proceedings are ongoing in various jurisdictions. While some cases may be dismissed or overturned on appeal, others proceed, including significant criminal trials, such as those related to alleged election interference and classified docs.
December 1, 2024 at 7:09 AM
The jury found Trump liable for sexual abuse and defamation. Yes, violent felonies like rape cannot be tried in civil court, the Carroll case didn’t accuse Trump of rape under New York’s narrow definition. The court found him liable for sexual abuse, which is a serious offense.
December 1, 2024 at 7:09 AM
In Carroll’s case, she brought a civil suit for defamation and later an amendment to her suit for battery under New York’s Adult Survivors Act, a law specifically designed to allow survivors of sexual abuse to bring claims even if the statute of limitations for criminal prosecution has expired.

Criminal courts address violations of the law with penalties like imprisonment, while civil courts handle disputes between individuals, often seeking monetary compensation or other remedies..
December 1, 2024 at 7:09 AM
While it’s true that Donald Trump was not criminally tried for sexual assault or rape in the E. Jean Carroll case, the situation is more nuanced than simply stating “he was never charged.” Civil and criminal courts serve different purposes.
December 1, 2024 at 7:09 AM
I have to say, that I agree with all that, but let me ask, does your moral stance put a convicted felon and a convicted sex offender in the Oval Office as the best person to run the country?
