I love the subtle hints @clmazin.bsky.social does in #TLOU. In the pilot, there is the implication that somehow oatmeal raisin is an inferior cookie to the pedestrian chocolate chip. This subtle way of showing the infection has destroyed the woman’s brain that way is brilliant.

Prestige TV where each season is essentially a 8 to 10 hour movie is great. But shows like #ThePitt and #TheStudio show the value in self contained stories that build upon each other. We may be past “Peak TV” but we’re getting some of the best TV ever.

I know tons of VFX artists have valid complaints about the PR “it’s all practical” campaign they did- but Top Gun Maverick is about as perfect a movie as is possible.
Perfect meaning it perfectly executed what it wanted to be.
It is not in the MCU, but it is an absolute marvel.

I rewatched Alien this morning and made a realization. Like Sixth Sense, once you know the truth of who I character is ( Ian Holmes ) - all the choices both the character and actor make take on a new context.

Ran into @clmazin.bsky.social at CAA the other evening. Let him know how much his vocal support for the VFX team on TLOU meant to our part of the industry. Seemed genuinely humbled by my expressions of thanks. Would love to see more people at his level appreciate our craft rather than denegrate.

I realize tons of people in the visual affect space really just want to put their head in the sand and think it’s all gonna go away, but if you haven’t seen that Sora v2 leaked presentation footage you’re in for a wake up call.

If you’re in VFX and claim to be against AI, Are you hand tracking every camera frame by frame. I hope you don’t use photogrammetry in any way. Feature detection? And on… and on… and on…

If anyone tries to tell you the right way of setting up an #OpenUSD asset, they’re just telling you THEIR way. There is no right way, just many wrong ways.
