"Where the hell's that engineer?" "I don't know. He said he was going to have a look at the shutter, so I left him to it. Last I saw of him he had managed to loosen it and had run it up and down a few times. I had to serve a customer and I didn't see him again." They both stood in the shop doorway, looking around. "Well, his van's still there. I'm guessing he's gone for lunch or something. He'll be back soon." "He had better be. I had a hell of a job getting that shutter to go up this morning. I had customers waiting by the time I got it open. It kept sticking, and then it would go down a bit, and then it would shoot up really fast. I don't want to have that carry on at closing time." "I'm sure he'll have finished his lunch by then." They stood and looked up at the metal roller shutter above their heads, rust-red and tightly coiled. The cover had been removed and set neatly to one side, exposing all the machinery above them. They had another glance up and down the street. No sign of any engineers. Then, as a customer approached, they both went inside the shop to serve him. It would be another hour before the engineer turned up. Another hour until the lunchtime rush finished and they were both free to go outside and have another cigarette, and to look for him. Another hour, and, when they did come out, the blood would have started to drip from between the coils of the shutter.

Lots of fantastic spooky figures around the duck pond in Ayr's Rozelle Park.

Fire alarm went off at work today. It happens. However, on this occasion it was an actual fire.
Fire engines ensued, with firemen, who were all amazing. Everything is now sorted.
Big thanks to them, and all the emergency services
