This reminds me of that old joke about the doctor telling a guy he had good news and bad news for him. The guy said, "Give me the bad news first." The doctor says, "You have a month to live." The guy says, "Jeez! What's the good news?" The doctor says, "See that nurse over there? I'm fucking her."

The rich & powerful are removed from society, deaf and blind to the needs of average Americans. This is not a case of brutalizing "each other." It's brutalizing someone who has brutalized society at large. I don't condone the murder, but let's paint this story with the appropriate contextual brush.

That said, fawning is a real trauma response where the victims try to avoid more abuse by people-pleasing. Not the same, but a similar dynamic.
