I actually think the boring reality on the Epstein files is Trump is a sleazy guy who doesn’t remember huge sections of his life because he’s old.

“Surely in 1998 I would have asked to see the driver’s license of any young woman who wanted to sex me.

Or would I?”

So he’s just uncomfortable etc.

As a tax and spend liberal I claim George Washington as my own for violently forcing whiskey distillers to pay taxes.

That was Bill Clinton's BATF level flexing I heartily approve of.

Ofc I remember when Rubio said philosophy majors make less than plumbers and then it turned out to be false.

The issue is confusion on the real problem.

The point isn't that getting a liberal arts degree condemns you to poverty or means you're stupid.

I don't dislike college lit classes. Or any other BS electives.
A big fan in fact.

But that would be a huge thing I'd get rid of if we're serious about free or almost free college.

Most people don't give a s*** about this.

I think I want to see a Who tribute band.

As in Who ever is the best at impersonating The Who I will go see them.

Yes my bucket list is lame.
December 23, 2025 at 12:12 AM
If we really were serious about ranking politicians in terms of "oppression olympics" we'd look at who had the crappiest parents.

(Not sure we really should do this but anyway.)

Bill Clinton, having a dead bio dad and a drunk step dad would go pretty high.

I realize it's incidental to her main point but it's so cringe when white Americans use the "working class" nonsense from the UK.
December 22, 2025 at 4:04 PM
Communism gave us Tetris. I'll give them credit for that.

But by the time Gorbachev was serving that pizza hut slice to his grandchild at Appomattox, capitalism had already given us duck hunt.

And Streetfighter II

And Super Castlevania IV.

I'll take my chances with markets.

Social mobility is a really flawed concept. I'm a believer in social democracy but there is something very flawed with this idea of "let's create a society where poor kids can become rich and rich kids can become poor".
December 22, 2025 at 3:01 AM
Lincoln wasn't the most radically anti slavery candidate in 1860. That was Seward.

The GOP didn't nominate Lincoln hoping for a civil war to end slavery at the cost of 700,000 American lives. They actually were practicing the politics of moderation but the future often has nasty surprises.

When you ask young adult men if they’re avid football fans only 35% say yes. Football is very American but a mistake to make it too central to our identity.
December 21, 2025 at 8:39 PM
I'm not a fan of Vivek but this is dumb.

Vivek's favorite movies and films are exactly what you'd expect a white college educated American guy (his age) to like.

Eminem, Imagine Dragons, American History X. Russell Crowe's Gladiator. His tastes are cringe but deeply American.

If WW2 ended the great depression that would imply that big government ended the depression. So it's not really much of a dunk on liberalism here.
December 21, 2025 at 7:13 AM
The west's strength (America, CA, Australia Europe) is that we're rich. And we're generally obsessed with getting richer rather than annihilating a great enemy.

We don't build our identity around destroying other people's way of life like Russia, Iran, Pakistan and China.

Not seeing any relationship between credentialism and any preferred foreign policy or refugee policy. This guy is all over the place.

Credentialism as in meritocracy seems like a pretty robust concept. Maybe sometimes credentials != merit and that's a stronger case for discussion.

Latin America is definitely a blindspot to Leftists who really take the concept of "colonialization bad" seriously.

1. (mostly) genetically indigenous
2. (mostly) culturally european

3. and most importantly, spectacularly wealthy and populous compared to 1492 soley bc of colonization. 🤷

I don't know much about this woman but she's apparently the most resistant to the "War is mean, Israel really mean" drivel speak that Stammer is trying to push to mollify the far left and Islamist wing of the Labour Party.

Not Jewish either, just a type A realist. My crush I guess.

And aside from all that homeownership rates were lower in 1958 than they are now.
December 20, 2025 at 5:18 PM
I’d rather have a Marvin Gaye biopic than a Michael Jackson biopic.

I like tragedy.

But I’d rather the climax be “dude stabbed to death by dad” instead of “anesthesiologist puts weird celebrity to sleep”

UBI isn't viable. No want wants a 10% vat tax to get $X dollars/mo. People are suspicious. $90k man gives 9k to govt gets 8k ubi check etc.

But what if AI provides an opening. Elon or Sam automate 100 million jobs. Gvt taxes their profits.

100 million new people on welfare. Sounds cool.
December 20, 2025 at 1:10 AM
My (admittedly hyper conventional) take on domestic violence and rape is that these are crimes and they should be punished.

The man who commits a gender based crime is the same type to commit a thousand other crimes.

Men respect action.

Set boundaries with consequences, not preaching.

I think $39,000 is a reasonable salary for a college graduate starting out life in rural North Carolina and getting all the benefits that come with being a teacher.

And that is not the starting salary in Raleigh. That's the base for the entire state, local areas pay more.
December 19, 2025 at 7:54 PM
I tend to have a view on public schools that the biggest reform we need is a 20/20 rule.

The most disorderly 20% of schools need to expel about 20% of their students.

Warehouse them in a separate place.

Don't even call it an alternative school, more like day jail where zero learning occurs.
December 19, 2025 at 7:16 PM
Ok so I just realized not every state is like Texas where teachers are almost completely insulated from cuts in social security. In Texas there is a separate pension and social security is not your problem if you're a teacher.

So, good to know I guess. It's not the same everywhere.
December 19, 2025 at 6:56 PM
I'm not a fan of this kind of discourse. We shouldn't be debating what makes a euro a euro or an American an American or who's better. We should view ourselves as all on one team.

And ready to do important stuff like stomping Putin and preventing Iran from getting nukes.
