Screenwriting contests can sometimes be worth it. Before entering, consider the following:

- What’s the prize? Cash? Do you get representation?
- Look at past winners stories. What happened after they won?
- Average number of entries. The more scripts submitted, the bigger the competition.

A great writer never gives up and keeps pushing no matter how many “nos” they receive. Timing is everything. One day your script will end up in the right hands and you’ll be proud you didn’t give up on yourself! #writingmotivation

Despite what some might think, AI can be a powerful tool. Personally, I use AI for brainstorming and not for writing my scripts. I recently asked AI to create a movie poster based on my script. Anyone got connections to Adam Sandler, let me know. I've got something!

Your pitch video is NOT about cameras, crew, or logistics.

It’s about emotion.

If your investors don’t feel something, they won’t fund your film.

Make it short. Make it emotional. THEN talk about money. #FilmFunding

Some people will understand what you’re trying to do and others won’t. No matter what, don’t give up and let anyone’s perspective matter except your own. One day your script will land in the right hands. And it will be worth it! #screenwritingmotivation

The best way to improve the pacing of your script is to trim the fat. Start the scene late, get out early. Cut the small talk. Get to the point. The smoother the pace, the smoother the read. #writingtips

#writingtop It’s best to stick with focusing on one genre for your project. Don’t be like Emilia Perez where there’s so many genres mixed together audiences can’t tell if it’s a comedy, a musical, a drama…etc. (Rom-com is ok)

When you’re working on a script, ask yourself “What is the message I want audiences to walk away with that no one has ever mentioned before?” 🤔

If anyone is interested, here’s a sample of something I rewrote recently. (I’ll include the final page in the next post.) Tell me, what do you think works in the script? What doesn’t? I know this isn’t the official final draft and there’s going to be more rewrites.
