@glyph Very interesting point. When it was just about writing software, free software could compete. Now that good code is often not enough, in that one also needs* to provide heavy infrastructure to serve those programs over the web, freedom-respecting projects hit their limits (or so it seems) […]

@djvdq Especially in case she misses certain software later on, it's worth considering to opt for a dual boot of Windows and Linux. This only requires that Windows is installed first.
