Those on the borderlands and force them to patrol this barriers at the extremity of the empire. This was the Soviet Union’s great triumph, which is why Putin regards its fall as the “greatest geopolitical catastrophe of the last thousand years”.

Despite being a huge country, Russia has no natural barriers, its flat and open and has been subject to invasion and conquering for millennia. That is still the case. Russian czars have always tried to expand the borders out to defensible barriers: the Baltic, the carpathians, the Caucasus, etc.

You need to learn some post-war European history, along with a lot of Russian history and geography. If you think this war was anything but inevitable from the Russian side, you’re clearly uninformed.

I’m coming back. After 27 years living out of the country, or assigned to the US as an expat staff, I’ve lost my job and now moving back. I’m ready to take up the work all of you have so nobly advanced, but now that I’m returning, I have to do what I can to help. I look forward to joining the fight.

And Trump is seized with the idea of Christians being targeted in Nigeria. Guess who was funding the steady, persistent, unglamorous work of peace building and interfaith cooperation? That would be USAID. And since he destroyed that work, we can see the results play out on our tv screens.
