Well we’ll have to see. EU cannot ignore national politics and the trend is clear. Italy, Germany, France, Eastern Europe, even the nordics are moving right. People get tired of deindustrialization, higher costs, and anemic growth. EU economy is far behind the US now.

Not sure. Here in the US they are restarting some plants in a matter of years. Some plants that have been off for over a decade like SONGs are too far decommissioned. I would think German nukes have not been off so long they couldn’t bring back many relatively quickly.

Oh? Germany’s gov’t fell and the right is ascendant. What am I missing?

I guess I would have to disagree about Europe’s stance on NZ. Look where the political winds are going. The voters are rebelling on flushing money down the toilet on absurd H2 subsidies, among other things. Reality always wins in the end.

I feel like you dodged her question on existing nukes. It wouldn’t take that long to restart the mothballed plants. You can debate the economics but building out the grid for RE integration is also 2030s and expensive.

Building a h2 back up system for DF is not realistic. The key is forget net zero for electricity and just live with the existing gas backup system whilst getting to 90% decarbonized. Every dollar invested in h2 in the power sector is a wasted opportunity and Germany is realizing that.

So what in your view is the near term and longer term potential for the Southeast?

So what’s the gist of the roadmap? And is it still relevant with Trump at the helm?

A shame. LinkedIN is no fun.

What is more energy efficient way to heat a home? Burning gas in a combined cycle, running it through wires and running a heat pump or burning gas in a furnace?
